There Are Nazis Among Us

In the 1930s, the Nazis marked Jewish businesses with Swastikas, The Star of David, and slurs, their goal being to ostracize and economically cripple those they deemed enemies of their ideology. The message was clear: dissent would not be tolerated. Today, a new breed of ideological purists has taken up the same tactics—not from the far right, but from the far left. They claim to be anti-fascist, yet their actions mirror the very regimes they claim to oppose.

Across America, cities like Portland have become battlegrounds where the self-proclaimed “progressive” movement engages in acts of vandalism and violence to enforce ideological conformity. Recently, a wave of vandalism has targeted Tesla vehicles, especially the Cybertruck, with spray-painted obscenities, swastikas, and accusations of Nazism against their owners. Bombs and shootings have been reported at Tesla dealerships. These attacks are not acts of random mischief; they are deliberate attempts to shame and silence those who do not align with leftist orthodoxy. This is not protest—it is terrorism in its most basic form: instilling fear to achieve political ends.

Even more disturbingly, the political beliefs of the car owners are unknown. They are being targeted solely for driving a particular kind of vehicle, much like the Jews of 1930s Germany were targeted not for their actions, but for their identity. This is not activism—it is pure, unfiltered hatred.

What is alarming is the overwhelming support for these actions online. The images of vandalized cars have amassed tens, even hundreds of thousands of likes across social media. The mob not only approves but celebrates this brand of political violence, reinforcing the normalization of these fascistic tactics.

Movements have spirits, and the spirit of a movement that brands people as Nazis, spreads hatred, and uses violence to oppress carries the true essence of the Nazi ideology itself. It is not just spray-painting a car; it is getting someone fired from their job because they refuse to adopt beliefs that are not grounded in reality, such as radical gender ideology. It is labeling someone a “deplorable” and dehumanizing them. Once a group is dehumanized, anything becomes possible—just as it did in Nazi Germany.

Fascism, as originally defined by Benito Mussolini, is the fusion of state and corporate power with the suppression of dissent through force. The Nazis expanded on this by leveraging propaganda, economic pressure, and outright violence to control the population. Central to their strategy was the weaponization of mob rule to intimidate opposition into silence.

Fast forward to today, and the Regressive Left is deploying the same methods. They seek to economically punish those who defy their worldview—whether through cancel culture, boycotts, or outright destruction of property. They silence opposition by labeling dissenters as “Nazis” and “fascists,” justifying physical attacks(punch a nazi) and destruction in the name of “anti-fascism.” Ironically, their approach is indistinguishable from the totalitarian regimes they claim to despise.

Over time, political science and international relations scholars have expanded the definition of fascism to reflect the evolution of authoritarian movements. Today, fascism is understood not only as a historical ideology but as a method of social and political control—one that merges the coercive force of the state with the economic stranglehold of corporate monopolies. Even if we were to ignore the academic evolution of the term, the Regressive Left is engaging in precisely this strategy.

They are actively seeking to fuse the power of the state—specifically its monopoly on violence—with the power of corporations, which hold a monopoly over commerce and digital expression. This merger creates an authoritarian structure where ideological conformity is not just encouraged but enforced. Through censorship, economic punishment, and the systematic targeting of dissenters, they are building a system that mirrors the very one that gave rise to the Nazi Party. They are not fighting fascism; they are becoming its modern incarnation.

Historically, the left has always feared being outflanked by its own radicals, causing it to move ever further left. The French Revolution saw the Girondins fall to the Jacobins, only for Robespierre to meet his end at the hands of even more radical factions. The Bolsheviks crushed the Mensheviks and, once in power, engaged in relentless purges to root out ideological impurity. Mao’s China followed the same pattern, with the Cultural Revolution unleashing mass violence and destruction against anyone perceived as insufficiently revolutionary. The modern left, no different from its predecessors, continues this cycle—pushing ever further into ideological extremism to avoid being accused of standing still.

From Antifa-led riots to targeted vandalism, the modern left has embraced physical destruction as a means of political coercion. Just as Nazi brownshirts shattered windows and defaced businesses in the 1930s, today’s leftists smash storefronts, torch police stations, and deface private property with hate-laced graffiti.

The term “fascist” has been so overused by the left that it has lost its meaning. But if we apply its true definition—totalitarianism, suppression of dissent, economic control, and the use of violence to enforce ideology—then it is clear who fits the label. The Regressive Left does not seek diversity of thought; it seeks obedience. It does not fight for free speech; it seeks to silence opposition. It does not believe in democracy; it believes in mob rule.

A movement that justifies vandalism, economic punishment, and physical violence against dissenters is not a movement of progress. It is a movement of suppression. And history shows that such movements always end the same way—with the destruction of civil liberties and the rise of tyranny.

It’s time to call this what it is. The Regressive Left is not fighting fascism. They are a living representation of it. They are the Nazis among us.
